Brow lift

Goal of brow lift: To lift up the brow along the entire length or just its lateral part.

Surgical technique: In case of lifting the brow along the entire length, three small incisions are made along the upper edge of each brow. Thin threads are tunneled under the forehead skin to the scalp behind the hairline where sutures are fixed. In case of lateral brow lift only one incision is made. This procedure can be performed alone or in conjunction with facelift and/or eyelid surgery.

Duration and anesthesia: Approximately 30 minutes under local anesthesia.

Recovery after brow lift: Usual activities next day. Avoid forehead mimic for a few days.

Rare complications of brow lift: Mild brow asymmetry.

Botox™ and Dysport™ are brand names for the purified form of botulinum toxin Type A, which is produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. When injected into some facial muscles of extremely small doses, it blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles which are related to expression lines.

Goal: Correction of already existing wrinkles and prevention of new ones around the eyes, on the forehead and between the eyebrows. This relaxes the muscles to stop them contracting, leaving the overlying skin smooth and unwrinkled. It can not “freeze” your facial expression because it works only on the specific muscles, leaving surrounding muscles to function normally.

Injection technique: After dilution and marking precisely several locations on the face, it is injected using a disposable syringe with a very fine (insulin) needle. The pain associated with injections is minimal and can be prevented by previous cooling of the skin. No local anesthetic is required and one can return to normal activities immediately. Treatment takes around 15 minutes, it takes 3-4 days to begin taking effect and up to 10 days to see the full effect.

Temporary Side Effects: Tenderness or bruising at the site of injection and in some cases temporary weakness in nearby muscles. In rare cases, there can be slight and temporary drooping of an eyelid or eyebrow lasting 1-2 weeks.

It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, during therapy with Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) or in some neuromuscular disorders.

The effect lasts 3-5 months or longer and one can repeat the treatment regularly. Clinical studies indicate that the duration of effect increases over time, so you may need less frequent injections in the future to maintain the result.
